Casey Lynn Hancock
Obsessed with art from an early age, Casey started drawing as soon as she could hold a crayon. Growing up in Chicago, she spent all of her free time with a sketchbook drawing horses and dogs. Casey actually avoided drawing people because she never thought they looked realistic enough. Casey said “It’s ironic that I spend so much of my time painting portraits now because I was absolutely terrible at drawing people when I was growing up.”
At 18, she left Chicago and joined the United States Air Force where she spent the next several years living in Germany and Arkansas. After finishing her commitment to the military, she became a full-time student while working as a full-time graphic designer. By the time she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in business marketing, she was a creative director and was soon promoted to Marketing Director. Even with a demanding schedule, Casey still found time to pursue painting and photography.
“Working in a corporate setting was such an amazing learning experience for me. I was traveling a lot and managing a team of incredibly talented designers and marketing professionals. But, ultimately, I felt like I was getting further and further away from the creative aspects of my job. This is when I made the decision to leave and take a chance on my art.” -Casey
In February 2017, Casey decided to leave her marketing career and Move to San Diego, California to pursue art full-time. Casey has since moved her art studio to Los Angeles, California where she plans to stay.
“This has been the scariest thing I have ever done, but also the most amazing experience of my life. There is no doubt in my mind that this is what I was meant to do. I am so grateful to wake up every morning happy and doing what I love!” -Casey
