Artist Casey Lynn Hancock will represent the San Diego Padres at 2019 MLB All-Star Game Auction
Artist Casey Lynn Hancock was chosen to represent The San Diego Padres Baseball Team at the upcoming Major league Baseball All Star event in Cleveland, Ohio. Casey was contacted by Major League Baseball in conjunction with Fender Musical Instruments and Louisville Slugger. The Project called for an artist representing each of MLB's 30 teams to paint an All Star Game-themed and City-themed design on both a guitar and bat.
Hancock's custom artwork, as well as the bats and guitars from other artists, will be on display in Cleveland's Public Square starting July 5th, 2019. After the All Star Game, the guitars and bats will be auctioned off for charity. All proceeds will go to Fender's PLAY Foundation as well as Louisville Slugger's Play Ball Initiative.
"The guitar I painted was inspired by the wonderful city of San Diego and the Padres," said Hancock, adding that MLB contacted her after finding her work online. "When they contacted me through my website, caseypaintings.com, they said they thought I would be the perfect fit for the project."
Casey's guitar features a scene from inside Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres.
" I wanted to keep my guitar looking very clean and classy. The natural wood grain was absolutely beautiful and I didn't want to cover it up completely, so I used silver leaf to create a design that has never been seen before. When the light hits this guitar, it's magical!"
Hancock's bat was designed around a unique tradition at Petco Park. During Sunday home games, there is a special "Sunday Salute" dedicated to the upcoming Marine graduates in attendance. Casey added "As a veteran of the United States Air Force, I think it is important to support our troops with awesome traditions such as this one. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent The Padres and the city of San Diego."
